Yes, A great site, with many Good Facilities, but at present there are just TOO FEW BUYERS.

Even really cheap things do not sell

One of my items was visited 196 times, but received no bids

Perhaps Sebastian should advertise more in British Hobby magazines

I agree, there could be more exposure - it works because after the London Postcard Fair, I had an increase in Postcard Sales.

Perhaps the downturn in sales of late is due to the economic situation and people are really tightening their belts.

However, while we are selling at lower prices, it might be the time for collectors and retailers to purchase from us in order to make a profit in the future.

Good luck

Yes,have to agree with Coinandstampman on both counts.Great site easy to navigate and to use but will not be exceptional,I believe until it at least doubles the size of its membership. There are definitely too few buyers and even stamps that I have placed at 10% of catalogue do not attract flies. There may be enough topical dealers to make it interesting for some but in my case collecting Winston Churchill the same old mundane stuff appears week after week........I have not seen a quality item in my area for months.............to be honest I have not seen much on E*** either. I also like the site but would say some more buyers would not hurt.
I belong to other sites and when I sent any stamps on to buyers I give them my link to here. It very often helps. I also run lage discounts (up to 25%) and post free offers but it still is not enough.

Hi Nanook99

Just had a look at your store and you have some nice covers and stamps there. Have you thought of trying the Fixed Price (Buy it Now) facility.. It is not only we women who impulse buy.

Being a Family Historian I particularly liked the Princess Diana First Day Cover with the Spencer Family Tree printed on it. Had it been Buy it Now, I think my name would have been on it.

yes, you can say you have been 'rumbled', whatever that means. i bought the covers. however, i will make a gift of them to you if you pay the postage to your address. you can contact me via delcampe for my email address. i will pay nanook for them via PAYPAL and have him send them to you. call it a kindness for that shown to my dad when he was stationed in england with the u.s.a.f. so many years ago in 1956. he thought highly of the 'anglais'. :rose: my brother has a law office in london now as an international lawyer. he goes there several times a year and also to our motherland, france. :rose:

Hi,

We only sell through the fixed price format here.

That results in the item also appearing i n Google because of Googlebase Exposure.

That little "extra" group of first time buyers is why we are doing well here on Delcampe.

As membership here goes up so do our sales.

On every site we sell at online we tell our customer base about Delcampe.

It is working. Slowly.

Thank you for your details about Fixed Price Format and the

I am off to check it out now.... Thanks for the tip.

bonjour sheila,

you will have to ask nanook about that. he lives in canada and that is where the letter and covers will be posted from. you can contact him via delcampe as you did me. our GMF post office i used to work at has now closed its window unit on sundays and after midnights. it used to be a 24 hour facility, but budgetary constraints have led to cutbacks. and a loss of good union jobs. the present postmaster is my old boss i had when i first started at the post office, not one who i admired. glad i retired early. :wink2:

Post office service on Sundays is obtained from small Post Office franchises situated mostly in pharmacies across the city. There is only one main post office in the city that sells stamps and services the rest have turned into depots to transport and to sort mail;you cannot buy any postal services there. In the information I gave to Bill, I forgot Monday is a holiday < Thanksgiving when you are retired every day is a holiday >and there will be no postal service until Tuesday so I will put the items in the mail Monday evening. In Canada the holiday is celebrated early at the end of our growing season and fortunately 12 weeks before Xmas only the Americans can handle two major eating holidays within a 30 day period. Take care! Jim

2008 Postal Holidays

Tuesday, January 1 - New Year's Day
Monday, January 21 - Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday
Monday, February 18 - Washington's Birthday (President's Day)
Monday, May 26 - Memorial Day
Friday, July 4 - Independence Day
Monday, September 1 - Labor Day
Monday, October 13 - Columbus Day
Tuesday, November 11 - Veterans Day
Thursday, November 27 - Thanksgiving Day
Thursday, December 25 - Christmas Day
