did she just give the image of the back of the bill or both? i think she will be convinced the bills are bogus now.

This proves that it's not "United States Currency", which is not surprising at all as it is not in Volume 2 of the Krause catalogue of paper money.
But it could be some other kind of financial instrument with a value for collectors. Mortgages are never mentioned on banknotes.
I have put a note on the French website asking for their opinion on this to help Cousin(e) Jean.
It probably is just a fantasy item, however.
