Offering here from estate library this RARE edition of THE HISTORY AND TOPOGRAPHY OF THE UNITED STATES OF NORTH AMERICA dated 1834. This book has leather binding and marbled boards. This auction is for VOLUME 2 only. The book is tightly bound but has a few pages loose as apparently some 19th century cretin removed a few of the illustrations although all of the numbered pages are present and intact,The missing plates are scenes of MASSACHUSSETTS COLLEGES and scenes of New York and Philadelphia. There are still 10 of the original plates present and intact as shown. The book discusses the establishment and history of the US up to he time of publication and includes data on such subjects as population and demoghraphics, botany, geology, weather, environment, industry. and so on. A GREAT research tool and a MUST for anyone with an interest in EArly 19th century America. 9 1/4" x 11" x 1 1/2" and 507pp. A GREAT Book here despite it being only one of two volumes.
